Our Mission

It is the mission of the learning disability nursing forum to provide a dedicated platform to recognise, promote, and celebrate the learning disability nursing profession. A key aim of the forum is to support delivery of the All England plan for Learning Disability Nursing, in order to address core issues currently affecting the Learning Disability Nursing workforce.

Additionally, the forum exists to support the work of our learning disability nursing colleagues in the other three countries of the United Kingdom. Our overarching collective aim being to strengthen the message that learning disability nursing is one family, it is a highly valued profession, unique its purpose and exceptional in its delivery.

The mission of the forum is to grow the professional network of learning disability nurses, reinforcing the importance of the role and the work we deliver, and enabling colleagues to keep abreast of latest developments.

The Aims of the Learning Disability Nursing Forum are:

  • To provide a central place for information, resources and updates for Nurses working in the Learning Disability sector.

  • Provide a central hosting place for the All England Plan for Learning Disability Nursing.

  • Be the place to hear the latest developments in relation to enhancing and improving the Learning Disability Nursing workforce.

  • Establish a comprehensive view of the needs and pressures facing the learning disability nursing workforce
