Sarah Pashley

Consultant Nurse Epilepsy & Intellectual Disability, Nottingham

I qualified in Learning Disability Nursing in 1985 and have since worked in a variety of inpatient and community health services. It was whilst working as a community nurse I became passionate about improving epilepsy treatment and care for people with intellectual disabilities.

I forged links with the local Neurology Service and together with a like-minded Consultant Neurologist and Consultant Intellectual Disability Psychiatrist developed an integrated specialist service in Nottingham for adults with intellectual disability, and teenagers in transition.

I undertook a Non-Medical Prescribing course in 2004 and completed a Master’s Degree in Epileptology at Kings College, London in 2006.

The Service has continued to develop and expand with valuable input from service users and their families. I provide expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex epilepsies and associated health conditions as part of a holistic patient centred service in Nottinghamshire striving to improve health outcomes and quality of life of people with epilepsy and intellectual disability.
